The largest traditional fair in Istria and Kvarner \u2013 the 18th U\u010dka Fair (U\u010dkarski samanj)<\/strong> \u2013 will once again take place on the first Sunday in September, September 6<\/strong>, at its well-known location in U\u010dka Nature Park<\/strong>, at the Poklon Pass. The event will feature a sales and exhibition area, a gastronomic section, activities for children, and a rich cultural and entertainment programme.<\/p>\n

Around 50 exhibitors, associations and organisations<\/strong> from Istria County and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County will take part in the event. Visitors will be guided through the programme by Robert Ferlin<\/strong>, while Poklon will offer a rich cultural and entertainment programme headlined by Koktelsi, Nola and L\u2019Amour Band<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The U\u010dka Fair promotes the cultural and natural heritage of the protected area of U\u010dka Nature Park and its surroundings, while supporting local producers of traditional products. Once again, the fair will showcase traditional products from both sides of Mount U\u010dka<\/strong>, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the heritage of Istria and Kvarner through presentations by associations dedicated to preserving the traditional culture of the region, as well as demonstrations of traditional crafts and indigenous animal breeds.<\/p>\n

GETTING TO THE FAIR<\/strong><\/h2>\n

BY CAR<\/strong><\/h3>\n

During the U\u010dka Fair, traffic on the road across Mount U\u010dka will be one-way from Istria towards Kvarner<\/strong>, from 9:00 to 21:00.<\/p>\n

Upon presenting a voucher, fair visitors will be able to use the U\u010dka Tunnel at a special sponsored toll rate<\/strong>. The discounted toll of EUR 1.50<\/strong> is made possible by BINA Istra.<\/p>\n

Visitors arriving from the Kvarner side can collect a voucher entitling them to the discounted toll when exiting the motorway and paying at the Vranja toll plaza<\/strong>. Please inform the toll booth operator that you are heading to the fair.<\/p>\n

Visitors arriving from the Istrian side can collect a voucher at a designated point in Vela U\u010dka<\/strong> before reaching the fair. When paying the toll on the way back from the fair, visitors must use the manual toll lane<\/strong> and present the voucher.<\/p>\n

Getting to the fair from Kvarner:<\/strong> U\u010dka Tunnel \u2192 Vranja toll plaza \u2192 Vela U\u010dka \u2192 Poklon \u2192 return via Veprinac<\/p>\n

Vouchers for the tunnel can be collected at the toll booths when paying the tunnel toll. Please inform the toll booth operator that you are heading to the fair.<\/em><\/p>\n

Getting to the fair from Istria:<\/strong> Vranja toll plaza \u2192 Vela U\u010dka \u2192 Poklon \u2192 return via Veprinac \u2192 U\u010dka Tunnel<\/p>\n

Please follow the temporary traffic signs and the instructions of official personnel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

BY BUS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For visitors to the 18th U\u010dka Fair<\/strong>, a free special bus service<\/strong> will operate from Opatija (Slatina) to Poklon. The service is operated by BRIONI PULA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

ON FOOT \u2013 HIKING<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The fair can also be reached on foot, with a guided hike organised by the Opatija Mountaineering Club from Opatija and the Knezgrad Mountaineering Club from Lovran<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Meeting point:<\/strong> 10:00 in front of the Liganj Community Centre.<\/p>\n

The estimated arrival at Poklon is around 13:00, with the planned return from Poklon at 17:00.<\/p>\n

FOOD & DRINK<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Three food and drink points will offer visitors a rich selection of local cuisine and refreshments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

EXHIBITION & SALES PROGRAMME<\/strong><\/h2>\n

More than 50 producers and associations from Istria County and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County<\/strong> will present their products, services and traditional crafts at the exhibition and sales stands, as well as indigenous animal breeds<\/strong>, including sheep, Istrian cattle (bo\u0161karin), cows, donkeys and goats.<\/p>\n

As every year, part of the fair will be dedicated to nature conservation<\/strong>, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about other nature parks and protected plant and animal species.<\/p>\n
