15th Učka Fair will be held on Sunday, September 3th, 2023. at Poklon Pass in the Učka Nature Park, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Učarski Fair is the largest fair of traditional products of Istria and Kvarner. This year, the fair will also include an exhibition-sales, cultural-entertainment, gastronomy and educational program, which will also be extended to the new Poklon Visitor Centre. After a two-year break, the fair returns in a recognizable style, with a rich, all-day program, which, along with top entertainment, will be closed by Istrian legends – Gustafi.

Over 50 producers and manufactures will present their products, services and crafts at the exhibition and sales stands. In this part of the fair, visitors will be able to learn about the traditional making of autochthonous musical instruments, iron forging, making wooden figurines, mushroom growing, the cultural heritage of the Lovran region, and a special attraction this year will be the corral with autochthonous animals: boškarin, pramenka sheep, donkeys and cows.

The sales part of the fair will include a rich offer of local producers, and among other things, the stands will sell various dairy, meat and cured meat products, honey, fruit, brandies and liqueurs, wines, craft beers, teas, jams, natural cosmetics, homemade cakes, chocolates, fritters…

The catering part of the fair will offer traditional gastronomic specialties at three locations – at the Poklon Pass, next to the Poklon Mountain Lodge and on the terrace of the Mountain Bar in the Poklon Visitor Centre.

During the entire duration of the fair, visitors will be able to enjoy a rich cultural and entertainment program at two locations. On the main stage, the program will be led by Robert Ferlin and will include different folklore groups and choirs with popular istrian group Gustafi as lead performer.

It will also be fun at the Poklon Visitor Centre. From 12:30 to 17:30 on the terrace of the Mountain Bar, the group “Anelidi” will entertain the visitors, and at 2:30 PM, in the conference hall, a lecture will be held by the renowned mountaineer, writer, and filmmaker – Stipe Božić. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to visit the interactive, interpretive exhibition at reduced ticket prices.

Traffic through Učka will, as in previous years, be one-way during the fair (from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) The company BINA Istra has offered all visitors a sponsored tunnel toll price of EUR 1,50. In addition to driving, you can also take the gratuitous bus from Opatija to the fair, which will depart every 30 minutes from the main bus station from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Poklon can be reached on foot again this year, with the guidance of the Opatija and Knezgrad hiking associations, which organize hiking trip departing from Liganj at 10:15 a.m.

Did you know?

The griffon vulture feeding site

…that griffon vultures, endangered in Croatia, are often flying over Učka in search for food? Once they were nesting here, but today their northern-Adriatic population is decreasing and in order to help in their preservation, a feeding site was build in Učka Nature Park, popularly called 'griffon vulture restaurants'.

The „Two towers“ trail

…that in 2018 a trail named „Two towers“ was established, which connects the town tower in Lovran with the Vojak tower on Učka? The trail goes through the existing hiking trail, and alongside there are educational boards that inform visitors on the flora and fauna of Učka.

The Roman cheese

…that it is traditional on Učka to produce the „molded“ sheep cheese of distinctive taste since the Roman Empire time? Its production was standardized due to its use in the nutrition of the Roman legions, while today's cheese made on Učka doesn't differ much from its antique ancestor.

Slavic mythology

…that the Mošćenička Draga's canyon used to be the scenery of sacred beliefs for the first Slavic settlers on the Kvarner area? The local toponyms like Perun, Babin grob and Voloski kuk witness about the old Slavic cult of Perun.
