The rest of the costs were financed by the Učka Nature park Public Institution from the state budget through the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and throught its own funds.
The Kršan Municipality’s finance part: 1.473.995,00 kn from which 15% of own means (221.099,00 kn)
The BIOM Association’s finance part: 966.572,00 kn, from which 15% of own means (144.986,00 kn)

Short project description:
Within the “Učka 360°” project the Visitor Centre at the Poklon mountain pass was built and equipped, along with four other objects: three volunteer’s centres in Rovozna, Podmaj and Lovranska Draga and the interpretation centre in the former school of Šušnjevica – the “Vlaški puti” (Vlach Paths) eco musem. Furthermore, new innovative programmes based on the natural and cultural values were developed, while the existing educational programmes of the Učka Nature Park were developed and expanded.

Project goals:

to enhance the attractiveness and the diversity of the Park content through the visitors’ infrastructure and programme development
to raise the visitors’ knowledge on the Učka Nature Park with the improvement of the educational component in the visitors’ programmes

Project elements:

Element no. 1: Construction and furnishing of the Poklon Visitor Centre
Element no. 2: Enhancement of the atractivity and diversity of the Park’s offer by developing of inovative visitors’ programmes based on the natural and cultural heritage

Did you know?

The griffon vulture feeding site

…that griffon vultures, endangered in Croatia, are often flying over Učka in search for food? Once they were nesting here, but today their northern-Adriatic population is decreasing and in order to help in their preservation, a feeding site was build in Učka Nature Park, popularly called 'griffon vulture restaurants'.

The „Two towers“ trail

…that in 2018 a trail named „Two towers“ was established, which connects the town tower in Lovran with the Vojak tower on Učka? The trail goes through the existing hiking trail, and alongside there are educational boards that inform visitors on the flora and fauna of Učka.

The Roman cheese

…that it is traditional on Učka to produce the „molded“ sheep cheese of distinctive taste since the Roman Empire time? Its production was standardized due to its use in the nutrition of the Roman legions, while today's cheese made on Učka doesn't differ much from its antique ancestor.

Slavic mythology

…that the Mošćenička Draga's canyon used to be the scenery of sacred beliefs for the first Slavic settlers on the Kvarner area? The local toponyms like Perun, Babin grob and Voloski kuk witness about the old Slavic cult of Perun.
